Radek Šmerda graduated from the Law Faculty of Charles University in 2001, where gradually gained the titles JUDr. (2001) and Ph.D. (2005) for the fields of public law. In 2009, 2010, 2013 worked as an assistant to the Deputy High Court in Prague – for criminal proceedings.In 2011 he was appointed as a Minister of Transport. In 2007 – 2013 he was a deputy minister in the Defense Ministry, Transport Ministry, Home Ministry and the Prison Service.
